My project is coming along really well now. I ran into some pretty good websites that is sending me information on my topic in the mail and also expands my topic in so many different ways. I am very happy in what progress I am making.
Advocacy- It means that someone will be helping you with your case.
Batterer's Program- it is an abuse intervention program
Cohabitant- A person who has had sexual relations with the respondent at any time and lived with the respondent for at least 90 days.
Community Professional Education-Programs out in the community that attempt to change societal attitudes about domestic violence through presentations and/or speakers.
Court Accompaniment- that a person will accompany you to court for proceedings that relate to your case.
Denial and Blame- Abusers are very good at making excuses for the inexcusable.
Direct Representation- that you will have an attorney working for you on your individual case.
Dominance-Abusive individuals need to feel in charge of the relationship.
Emergence Family Maintenance- A monetary award that the Judge can order when the respondent has a duty to support his/her spouse or child.
Family Law- refers to the legal issues other than ex parte or protective order hearings. Family law cases consist of divorce, legal separation, child custody, and child support, and related issues.
Humillation- An abuser will do everything he can to make you feel bad about yourself or defective in some way.
Intimidation- Your abuser may use a variety of intimidation tatics designed to scare you into submission.
Isolation- In order to increase your dependence on him, an abusive partner will cut you off from the outside world.
Threats- Abusers commonly use threats to keep their partners from leaving or to scare them into dropping charges.
